Videophile brings back old recordings
December 2, 1999 (CNN) -- The VCR is something we have come to take for granted in these waning weeks of the 20th century. But video recording technology goes back a long way, at least to the 1920s. Sound unbelievable? They didn't even have television back then, right? CNN's David George reports that not only was there television in the early part of this century, there was a simple and inexpensive way to record television signals.
