(IDG) -- A New York City Year 2000 drill -- during which all city agencies participated in imaginary crisis scenarios -- went off without hitch last week, said a spokesman for the mayor's office of emergency management.

The drill was the final step leading to the culmination of the Big Apple's four-year, $300 million effort to prepare for the date change at year's end.

"All the agencies were brought together and used the operations center, and there were no problems," spokesman Frank McCarton said.

The city's emergency management office developed the scenarios.

More than 100 crisis managers from city agencies such as the American Red Cross and the U.S. Coast Guard will staff a 24-hour operations center on the 23rd floor of the World Trade Center beginning Dec. 29.
