SHARPSBURG, Maryland (CNN) -- In 1862, more than 23,000 men and boys died in the Civil War battle of Antietam. On Saturday, hundreds of people gathered at that site in Maryland for a spectacular candlelight tribute to those who gave their lives in the bloodiest battle in American history.
