MEMPHIS, Tennessee (CNN) -- Young Travis Butler returned briefly to the Memphis apartment where he lived with his mother's body for a month. During that time, the 9-year-old boy fed himself and went to school, but kept quiet about his mother, Crystal Wells, 30, fearing he'd be placed in foster care.
Police have not released the cause of Wells' death, on November 3, but say foul play is not suspected.
As for Travis, he's now living with his maternal grandmother in Carthage, Mississippi. And on Thursday, family members came with him to Memphis to pick up family belongings.
