Hostage freed, two Cubans surrender at Louisiana jail
December 17, 1999 ST. MARTINVILLE, Louisiana (CNN) -- A hostage who had been held in the St. Martin Parish Jail by Cuban detainees was freed overnight and two of the Cuban hostage-takers gave up, authorities said Friday. Prison guard Brandon Boudreaux was released. The two Cubans who surrendered were identified as Mario Mora-Medina and Gerardo Santana. Negotiators said that six hostage-takers, two hostages, and five female inmates are now in the warden's office. More details to come.
