Video: Against backdrop of O'Connor funeral, a meeting of political rivals

May 8, 2000
Web posted at: 6:16 p.m. EDT (2216 GMT)

NEW YORK (CNN) -- The Catholic funeral mass said Monday at New York's St. Patrick's Cathedral for Cardinal John O'Connor drew close to 4,000 invitees, including an interesting cross-section of the Election 2000 political scene -- many of whom found themselves sitting near each other.

The afternoon saw President Bill Clinton, first lady Hillary Rodham Clinton, Vice President Al Gore and his wife Tipper seated directly in front of Texas Gov. George W. Bush, New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, and New York Gov. George Pataki.

Who spoke to whom? Who shook hands? CNN's Candy Crowley was there, and takes a look.
