Philadelphia (CNN) -- The Philadelphia that city officials and Republican convention planners want everyone to see is steeped in history, from the home of founding statesman Ben Franklin to the famous Liberty Bell.

The Philadelphia that protesters and political activists hope to show the world is one of dilapidated row houses where residents have a history of tensions with city police. CNN's Deborah Feyerick examines both sides of the city's image.
