Clinton takes time out from fund-raising to golf
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - President Clinton Saturday took the morning off from his weekend of political fund raising and rubbing shoulders with Hollywood stars to play a round of golf.
Dressed in a black shirt and trousers, Clinton strolled into the Rancho Park Golf Club with his brothers-in-law Hugh and Tony Rodham, who was barefoot as the group arrived at the public course in west Los Angeles, site of next week's Democratic convention.
Los Angeles Mayor Richard Riordan and fund-raiser Terry McCauliffe joined the group for a rare moment of rest for the president, who planned to spend his afternoon drafting the speech he will deliver to the convention Monday.
Saturday night Clinton was to return to the party and fund-raising circuit by attending a gala where stars like Whoopi Goldberg and Gregory Peck will pay him tribute and pour an estimated $1 million into first lady Hillary Rodham Clinton's U.S. Senate campaign.
