Supporters push to get Nader in debates

PORTLAND, Oregon (CNN) -- A group of Ralph Nader supporters chanted "Let Ralph Debate" a block away from where Vice President Al Gore held a rally upon his arrival in downtown Portland Tuesday night.

The group of Nader supporters held green signs repeating their cry for Nader to be able to participate in any upcoming presidential debates. Nader has received the nomination of the Green Party, which has grown in stature in the Northwest over the past decade.

Gore and his running mate, Sen. Joe Lieberman of Connecticut, held a rally at the intersection of two downtown Portland streets after arriving in the city from Eugene, Oregon.

Gore is on a four-state swing across the west to tout his health care proposals.
