Bush's mother-in-law taken to hospital
AUSTIN, Texas (CNN) -- Jenna Welch, the mother-in-law of President-elect George W. Bush, fell ill Wednesday evening at a holiday party at the governor's mansion and was taken to the hospital, a spokesman said.
Bush, who plans to resign as Texas governor on Thursday, was hosting a party for members of the press who had covered his presidential campaign when his mother-in-law said she did not feel well, spokesman Dan Bartlett said.
Welch is the mother of Texas first lady Laura Bush.
Welch, Bartlett said, did not collapse, but was taken to a local hospital for observation as a precaution. He did not know Welch's condition or whether she was expected to spend the night at the hospital.
