China's fight against the outgoing tide of illegal immigrants
CHANGLE COUNTY, China (CNN) -- Authorities in southern Italy have intercepted scores of illegal immigrants from the Middle East and China, after they tried to reach the port of Brindisi this week.

CNN Beijing Bureau Chief Rebecca MacKinnon investigates the profitable illegal immigration business.
Thousands of would-be immigrants reach Italian shores each year, and most of them -- authorities say -- are apprehended and sent home.
However, Italy is not a common destination for illegal immigrants from China.
Australia, Canada and the United States are favored more often.
CNN's Rebecca MacKinnon reports on why thousands of people take such big risks to leave China, and how Chinese authorities are trying to stop them.
