| End of an era for Hong Kong's Vietnamese refugeesHONG KONG (CNN) -- It was one of the most tragic legacies of the war in Vietnam -- the exodus of the boat people.
Close to a million Vietnamese fled persecution and poverty after the Communist victory in 1975 and hundreds of thousands came to Hong Kong, where they were packed into camps. Some were resettled around the world, but others languished for decades in Hong Kong, in a limbo that has come to an end. The last camp in Hong Kong is closing -- the formal end of a drama lasting a quarter of a century. Hong Kong Bureau Chief Mike Chinoy visited the camp as refugees packed up their lives.
