| Three dead, several missing after boat sinks in India
PATNA, India (Reuters) -- At least three people were killed and several were missing after a boat with up to 50 people on board sank in a flooded river in eastern India, police said on Sunday. The boat turned over on Saturday in Madhubani district of the eastern state of Bihar which has been battling swollen rivers after heavy rains. "Three bodies have been recovered so far," deputy superintendent of police Harender Kumar told Reuters in the state capital, Patna. Kumar said five people swam to safety. "We cannot say anything at the moment, search and rescue operations are going on," the officer said when asked about the fate of the others on board. No other details were available.
