SYDNEY, Australia (CNN) -- In addition to world-class competition, Olympic athletes, and those who come to watch them, also will be able to enjoy world-class cuisine.

For modern Australia is a place to find an endless variety of foods prepared in any style imaginable. It's a continental feast on an island continent.

"I think one of the great things that's made Australian food is not being tied by really any bigotry towards any particular ingredients or produce or cooking styles," says chef Neil Perry. "No one (is) being held back from using what's best, what's beautiful and what's fresh. That, to me, is what Australian food is all about."
