| Critics question dietetic group's funding
DENVER, Colorado (CNN) -- Critics fault the American Dietetic Association for not being forceful enough in recommending healthy food habits. "At the American Dietetic Association, we preach the philosophy that there are no good or bad foods -- just bad diets," said dietician and ADA spokeswoman Kathleen Zelman. That approach has its roots in the source of some of the group's funding, such as pork and beef producers, the milk industry and other food manufacturing groups, critics say. "It's hard to criticize your friends," said Margo Wootan, a senior scientist at the Center for Science in the Public Interest. "It's even harder to criticize your funders." CNN Medical Correspondent Elizabeth Cohen examines some of the criticisms. RELATED STORIES: As go diets, so go federal dietary guidelines?
