May 23, 2000 -- A California judge dismissed four more criminal convictions in connection with the Los Angeles police corruption scandal, bringing the number of overturned convictions to 88.
May 19, 2000 -- Los Angeles prosecutors turn over the names of 28 officers implicated in corruption scandal to public defenders. May 17, 2000 -- A California judge dismisses two more cases in connection with the LAPD corruption scandal after learning former officer Rafael Perez fabricated evidence against the suspects. The report also says Police Chief Daryl Gates should resign. Mar. 3, 1991 -- African-American motorist Rodney King is beaten by four white Los Angeles police officers after a high-speed car chase. The beating was caught on videotape.
