Hollywood tough to tackle, says Vinnie Jones

LONDON -- English football hardman-turned-actor Vinnie Jones has described his decision to move to Hollywood to further his acting career as "a big gamble."

"I knew I had to do it if I was to stand a chance of getting any more acting work, but financially it was a bit of a risk," Jones said.

He said he knew he could have lost every penny.

"There was a thought at the back of my mind that we could end up going home skint," he said.

The former tough-tackling midfielder said that living in Hollywood had been like "going into rehab" as he no longer spent every Sunday in the pub drinking with his friends.

"LA is a workaholic town, where everyone is either in a film, or trying to be in one, and there's no time for going out to bars and clubs every night," he said.

The former Wimbledon player has already had roles in the hit film "Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels" and the newly released "Snatch" with Brad Pitt.

He is soon to star as a tough fraudster with John Travolta in a new $88 million blockbuster.

Reuters contributed to this report.
