Bands to watch
Four acts from SXSW 2000 worth following
AUSTIN, Texas (CNN) -- By the time the South By Southwest 2000 music conference ended this past weekend, festival goers had heard just about every type of music that could be played, plinked or plunked. Folk, funk, alternative country, punk: If the music could be performed, it was.
But the music played most, in its many forms, was traditional guitar-based rock. From that we've selected four "bands to watch."
In our report are the '80s hybrid Sugarcult; the experimentally melodic The Incredible Moses Leroy; the subdued, mature Departure Lounge; and an in-your-face quartet called the Backyard Babies.
Check 'em out. You might be hearing more about them in the future.
