'Making me feel kind of old'

LOS ANGELES (CNN) -- He's got hit records on several fronts, a new positive outlook and a place in history that will be preserved in a museum.

Dr. Dre, who's been called a Quincy Jones of rap as a super producer and performer, is among 40 artists whose oral histories will be exhibited on video at Paul Allen's Experience Music Project, which opened Friday in Seattle.

"This is a real good thing Paul Allen is doing making us a part of the museum," the former N.W.A. rapper said recently. "It feels incredible, especially since I'm still in the game and at the top of the game right now. It's actually making me feel kind of old."

But many would argue he's in his prime. Dre's Aftermath record label is flourishing now, and his pet project, Eminem, boasts the top-selling record in the country. His own record, "Dr. Dre 2001" has sold nearly 5 million copies.

Dr. Dre, who is currently on the road with Eminem and Snoop Doggy Dogg, is trying to distance himself from a past that included being jailed and shot in the legs.

These are better days for the businessman and family man, but Dr. Dre sees a threat from Napster, so he has sued the controversial Internet operation that allows users to exchange personal music files.

"I can't let anybody come in between me selling my music and feeding my family," he said. "Nothing can stop that, and in my opinion, that's what they're trying to do."
