German pop star Sasha shows dedication on U.S. tour

NEW YORK (CNN) -- Sasha Alexander, Germany's No. 1 pop star, is trying to make a name for himself in the United States. The 28-year-old singer is touring the country with his debut album for the American market, "Dedicated To."

It contains a lot of ballads," he said. "I like to be very emotional. And this is what I am. I am a very emotional person.

Superstar status aside, Sasha says he's really just a small-town boy from Dortmund, Germany, who likes soccer, eating pizza with friends and playing board games with his sweetheart.

CNN's Laurin Sydney talked with Sasha about his musical influences.
