Spice Girls make recording history

LONDON, England -- The Spice Girls have made pop history with the release of their double-A side single, "Holler/Let Love Lead the Way."

The single, the group's first release in two years, hit the top spot on the United Kingdom singles chart this week, making the Spice Girls the first all-female group to have nine number one singles.

Only Madonna, Cliff Richard, Elvis Presley and The Beatles have had more number one singles.

In a statement, the foursome praised their fans, saying, "We are absolutely thrilled at being number one. It's our first single in two years, the fans have been brilliant and we really appreciate how loyal they've been to us."

The single is the first release from the Spice Girls' new album Forever, which is released on November 6.
