Madonna partners with French artist to get 'funky flavor'
(CNN) -- Madonna is crediting one of the leaders in the French dance scene for the success of her latest release, "Music." Mirwais, the artist behind the hit club single "Disco Science," caught her ear, she said in an exclusive interview. One demo was all she needed. "I just said 'omigod this is what I want,'" she recalled. "I just flipped over it. I said, 'Please find out if he wants to work with me and collaborate.'" The sound on "Music," which released on September 19, sold 4 million copies in 10 days. It's different than her previous release, "Ray of Light," she said. "'Ray of Light' is more trippy, more ambient, more dense," Madonna said. "I think that 'Music' is much more pared down, much more minimalist ... There's a kind of funky flavor on 'Music,' much more so than 'Ray of Light.'" The pop star says she's planning a small promotional tour before launching into a global one. "I feel like it's time I need to take a trip around the world and sing a few songs," she said. Tune into CNN WorldBeat on Saturday for more on this exclusive interview with Madonna.
