Tony Bennett: Timeless and tireless

graphic

NEW YORK (CNN) -- If time is money, then Tony Bennett's 50-year recording career is paying off in dividends.

The singer who left his heart in San Francisco, stepped out with his baby and wove that old black magic is finding that his timeless brand of music is still a hot commodity.

"My record royalties right now are four times stronger than when I was the Madonna of my day," said Bennett, a nine-time Grammy winner. "Now it's over the top. I mean the records, they all hold up through the years."

Bennett, who still tours around the world, completed his 100th album this year, "The Ultimate Tony Bennett." The 74-year-old crooner calls it a testament to his staying power.

Bennett talks more about his start and survival with CNN WorldBeat Correspondent Andrea Mineo. Click here to watch the report.
