Today's buzz stories:

They will: Pitt, Aniston to wed this weekend

graphic

MALIBU, California -- So much for all those denials: Brad Pitt and "Friends" star Jennifer Aniston really will get married this weekend, their publicist said Thursday.

Two hundred people are expected to attend one of the most anticipated Hollywood weddings in years.

Rumors have circulated for months that 31-year-old Aniston and the 36- year-old "Fight Club" star were getting married, but the couple repeatedly denied them.

For several days, paparazzi reportedly have been hanging around the wedding site on an ocean bluff, where a white tent has been installed to keep the proceedings private.

Attorneys ask for Downey's immediate release from prison

LOS ANGELES -- Attorneys for Robert Downey Jr. told a three-judge panel Thursday that the Oscar-nominated actor should be freed immediately from state prison.

Downey is serving a three-year prison sentence for violating the terms of his probation on drug charges and is scheduled for release in November.

The attorneys argued that Malibu Judge Lawrence Mira miscalculated the actor's sentence when he remanded him to prison last August.

Spinal Tap site takes on Napster

LOS ANGELES -- If you can't use Napster.com, there's always Tapster.com, where the aging rockers of Spinal Tap are offering a new single to download.

"One of the brilliant things about Tapster is that there's only one song to choose from," said actor Christopher Guest, aka lead guitarist Nigel Tufnel.

"Back from the Dead" is the latest song from the fictional hard-rock band that director Rob Reiner skewered in "This is Spinal Tap," his 1984 mock documentary.

"We're putting it on the Internet because we want the people who really care that we're still alive to have it in their hands and their machinery and then in their ears," said Michael McKean, who was Spinal Tap leader singer David St. Hubbins.

A judge has ordered the online music service Napster to stop distributing copyrighted songs.

James Brown feels good about philanthropy

NEW YORK -- Considering it came from the Godfather of Soul, James Brown's offer was one folks couldn't refuse.

The renowned soul singer has used money from a $30 million bond transaction he made a year ago to set up a foundation for the underprivileged and to develop singing talent.

"There are a lot of people that need a lot of help and we want to help them. I have everything that I need," Brown said recently, observing the one-year anniversary of the deal.

"I set up a foundation to help underprivileged people, a lot of churches, and we've sent a lot of people to school."

Brown, whose hits include "Papa's Got a Brand New Bag" and "I Got You (I feel good)," got a $30 million loan backed by future royalties from his records.

Brown said he intends to continue doing good things with the money, including keeping blues music alive.

"We're going to bring back a lot of the older artists that were forgotten, like B.B. King, Bobbie Bland -- people like that who have a great track record," he said.
