Britain's Channel 4 seeks Evans replacementLONDON, England -- Britain's Channel 4 is seeking a host for the new series of the hit TV show TFI Friday after Chris Evans quit. The last series of the chat show was due to start on November 3 and run for eight weeks. But it is now without a presenter after Evans, who has fronted the programme for five years, decided to quit. Despite attracting two million viewers a week, Channel 4 bosses have decided not to renew the show's contract, which is up at the end of the year. Evans, who also presents the five times a week Breakfast Show on Virgin Radio, decided that he did not want to be a part of the last series. A spokesman for Channel 4 refused to confirm reports that pop stars including the Spice Girls and Ronan Keating, and celebrity chef Jamie Oliver had been approached to front the show. "We cannot confirm who will be presenting the new series at the moment, but it will probably be a different presenter each week," the spokesman revealed. RELATED SITES: See related sites about TV |
