LOS ANGELES, California -- Christmas came early this year for Dave, Jay, Conan and Bill. The current presidential drama may be a headache for the lawyers and the politicians, but it's been a gold mine for the late night comedians.

According to a group which has been tracking late night humor since the election, almost 90 percent of the jokes told by David Letterman, Conan O'Brien, Jay Leno and Bill Maher have been election jokes.

The comedians admit the election crisis has a more limited run than, say, the Monica Lewinsky scandal or the Simpson trial. But they're not complaining. "It's just like having gifts delivered to your door everday for Christmas right through sweeps. It's beautiful for us," says writer Billy Martin of Bill Maher's "Politically Incorrect."
