NEW YORK (CNN) -- Donna Karan's goal for her spring/summer collection: fusion.

In her search for it, the New York designer fuses the past with the future, melding the mysticism of the East with the modern pace of the West. Outer needs meet with inner passions in her latest fashions.

"Everything in life," Karan says,"has to have balance."

She uses a multitude of dresses -- they wrap the body, yet loosen to allow for movement -- to make her point. Karan also shows dancers' skirts with sheer tops, plus pairs slim-cut pants with kimono-style jackets.

The close-fitting styles -- appearing in stretch jersey, silk chiffon, tropical wool, cashmere, cotton, buttery leather and suede -- evoke a mood, Karan says.

"There's no question that sensuality is going to be a hot ticket," she says. "(It's) back to the body again in a really seductive way -- but in a comfortable way."
