(IDG) -- Microsoft Corp. has chosen Comfort, Texas, as the pilot site for the company's new TaxSaver software for electronically filing personal income taxes.

Microsoft, based in Redmond, Wash., last week opened two "do it yourself" computerized tax centers in Comfort, where the town's 8,000 residents can take advantage of on-site help using the software and sign up for free tax seminars.

The goal of the program is to encourage all of the San Antonio suburb's residents to use Microsoft's TaxSaver software to prepare and electronically file their tax returns. The 10-week adoption program will run through April 17. Volunteers from the Texas Chapter of the National Association of Tax Practitioners will help the residents use the software.

"The people of Comfort, Texas, want to be the most relaxed tax filers in America this year," said Chamber of Commerce president G.P. Shryer. "When everyone else is scrambling to get their taxes done this spring, we'll be sitting pretty."
