Site lets users test software online

(IDG) -- Users can test drive software applications over the Internet thanks to a Stockholm-based startup firm.

Runaware AB has launched a vendor-independent Web site that currently offers English-language applications from five vendors.

Billing itself as an evaluation service provider, Runaware aims to let users to test full versions of software in an online environment that simulates running the applications locally, the company said in a statement.

The service is free for registered users.

The software includes Corel Corp.'s Draw graphics software, TeamSoft Inc.'s TeamAgenda scheduling application and the Applixware 5.0 office suite for Linux from new Applix Inc. subsidiary VistaSource Inc.
