(CNN) -- Ever wonder how the universe began?

Researchers at Brookhaven National Lab now have a tool to recreate the big bang using the ultimate atom-smashing machine -- a super-collider on a two and a half-mile underground track. Atoms are sent racing into one another almost at the speed of light creating energy forces never seen before.

CNN Technology Correspondent Ann Kellan has the full report.
