CNNdotCOM Technofile: Fotoshow
(CNN) -- Digital photos should be as easy to show off as they are to take, and we found a new gadget designed to help you do just that. Fotoshow from Iomega lets you manage your photo collection from the comfort of your favorite TV lounge chair. The product stores, alters and displays your digital photos right on your TV. Think of it as a VCR for your digital photos. "The TV is the most natural device to show photos," said Rob Puzey, products manager for Iomega. "It's in your living room, and everyone in the living room can see the same photos at the same time." The best part is that it's easy. Simply take a photo with your digital camera and insert the memory card into Fotoshow. The souped-up zip drive is compatible with any digital camera and stores hundreds of pictures on each disk. Any camera that takes either a Compact Flash and IBM Microdrive, or a Smart Media card can be used with Fotoshow. First you stow 'em, then you show 'em. Step two is to create a digital photo-album -- a slide show that plays right on your TV. No computer is needed. You just use the handheld remote to rotate photos, resize them and even get the red eye out. "It's very easy here with Fotoshow to organize your photos, edit your photos, and run slide shows of your photos without the aid of a computer," Puzey said. But if you want to use your computer, no problem. Fotoshow not only hooks up to your PC, it also serves as a regular zip drive. At $299 a pop, this isn't at all a bad deal. Of course, whether you hold your audience captive or hostage depends on your picture-taking skills.
