Shuttle crew tells CNN.com readers about life on space station

Shuttle pilot Scott D. Altman, left, and Commander Terrence Wilcutt answer questions during a live CNN interview Friday
  INTERACTIVE GUIDE

(CNN) -- Two space shuttle Atlantis astronauts waxed poetic Friday about their first foray into the International Station, describing details big and small about the "brand spanking new" outpost.

While having noise levels like a jet airliner, it boasts "nice carpet" and pleasant temperatures and humidity comparable to San Diego, said commander Terry Wilcutt and pilot Scott Altman, responding to e-mail questions from CNN.com readers.

Watch Space Correspondent Miles O'Brien's live interview on CNN television to find out more about what they said, including one crewmember's musing about attempting to win a flight to the Russian Mir space station as a contestant on an upcoming "Survivor" television series.
