Air France cancels 100 flights due to strike
PARIS, France (Reuters) -- French national airline Air France canceled about 100 of its 1,300 daily flights on Friday because of a strike by members of four minority pilots' unions, an airline spokeswoman said.
Domestic and medium-range flights were canceled but long-haul flights were not affected, she said. Wide-bodied aircraft were put on some domestic routes to ensure as many passengers as possible were able to travel, she said.
The strike, set to last four days, is over implementation of a law cutting the length of the legal work week in France to 35 hours in an attempt by the Socialist-led government to reduce unemployment.
The main SNPL pilots' union did not join the protest.
The strike was the fifth over the same issue at Air France in as many months.
