Few reported flight delays on eve of Christmas

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- After a week marked by jammed airports and late and canceled flights, the day before Christmas was a slow travel day, with few reports of problems.

The Federal Aviation Administration reported arrival delays of less than 15 minutes at the nation's airports. High winds at Toronto's Lester B. Pearson International Airport delayed departures of flights bound for that city.

A spokesman at Boston's Logan International Airport, which reported heavy passenger traffic Saturday, said traffic was "very, very light" Sunday and was expected to be the same Monday.

The Air Transport Association predicted December 24, 25 and 31 would be the least busy days of the holiday travel season, with load factors expected to dip below 70 percent.

The highest load factor, 81.6 percent, occurred Friday.

The busiest days following Christmas will be December 28 and 29, with daily passenger traffic for both days expected to exceed 2 million.

January 3 is projected to be the busiest air travel day after the new year, with 1.9 million passengers expected to board flights.
