Wildfire burns in Colorado
By Christopher Elliott CNN.com Travel Columnist
CRAIG, Colorado (CNN) -- Firefighters were battling a wildfire Tuesday in a remote area of northwestern Colorado. The fire has already consumed 9,000 acres of land and is expected to grow, authorities said.
Officials reported no injuries and said there were no structures immediately threatened by the blaze, which began Monday and is confined mostly to federal lands in the area.
The fire started in Dinosaur National Monument and moved into the nearby Diamond Breaks Wilderness Study Area and a small portion of the Brown's Park Wildlife Refuge, according to a press release from the Craig Interagency Dispatch Center.
Firefighters have been hampered in their efforts to contain the blaze by low humidity and high winds in the area.
