Paying taxes like it's 1999
Tips to make filing easierJanuary 5, 2000 (CNN) -- The New Year celebrations are over, but 1999 hasn't gone away. You've still got taxes due for last year and little more than three months left to file them with the IRS. The good news is: The tax credit for children under 17 has gone up, deducting home office expenses has become easier and there are more ways than ever to get help -- some of them on the Web. The tax man also has Y2K covered, in case computer problems appear, and the number of e-filers is expected to leap to more than 33 million. There's also a break for procrastinators. The tax deadline is April 17, because April 15 falls on a Saturday.
