NEW YORK (CNN) -- Cardinal John O'Connor, the archbishop of New York, could not celebrate Mass Sunday because he was feeling weak and having trouble reading, his spokesman said.

Joseph Zwilling said doctors will be monitoring Cardinal O'Connor over the next few days.

The Cardinal has been in poor health since undergoing treatment for a brain tumor last year.

He is 80 years old.
