11 children injured in Baltimore school bus accident
BALTIMORE (CNN) -- Eleven children were injured Tuesday when a school bus taking them on a camp outing overturned on a busy interstate near Baltimore-Washington International Airport, an official with the state highway administration said. There were 20 children on the bus. The accident happened shortly after 9 a.m. on the northbound lanes of the Baltimore-Washington Parkway. At least three other vehicles were involved, according to Suzanne Bond of the Maryland State Highway Administration. "It involved an on-ramp and some run-ins associated with merging traffic," Bond said. The northbound lanes of the road were roped off and traffic was diverted to other freeways while the accident was cleaned up, Bond said. Bond said the injured children were taken to North Arundel Community Hospital and St. Agnes Hospital.
