Web posted at: 10:18 p.m. EDT (0218 GMT)

LOS ANGELES (CNN) -- An anti-immigration demonstration on busy Wilshire Boulevard in Los Angeles turned violent Tuesday when a group holding a counter-rally across the street marched over and began throwing punches, bottles and full soda cans.

No serious injuries were reported and no arrests were made.

About 300 members of the anti-illegal immigrant group One Nation Indivisible were holding a rally on the steps of a federal building on Wilshire when they were approached by nearly 200 of the counter-demonstrators at about 11:15 a.m. Traffic on the eight-lane thoroughfare came to a halt as the groups came together.

Police dressed in riot gear stepped in to separate the groups and restored order minutes later. At least one officer was injured in the face by a soda can.
