Police issue warrant for man accused of manslaughter in kids' hockey fight

READING, Massachusetts (CNN) -- Police issued a warrant Sunday for a man they said killed another man in a fight over their children's hockey game.

Authorities said Thomas Junta, 42, was charged with manslaughter in the death of Michael Costin, 40. Police said the two men argued during a hockey game Wednesday in which their sons were playing, with Junta complaining that the children were "checking" in the non-contact game.

A spokesman for the Reading Police Department said the argument began on the rink, and moved into a locker room, where a rink manager asked Junta to leave. Later, Junta returned and confronted Costin in the lobby of the rink.

There he allegedly beat Costin, who was unconscious when police arrived. Authorities said children and adults were witnesses to the assault.

"The officers administered CPR [cardiopulmonary resuscitation] on the victim, who had no pulse and no breathing," said Reading Police Lt. Michael Cloonan.

Cloonan said Costin died Friday after life-support was removed.

Police did not know where Junta was as of Sunday evening.
