Student fires gun at school; search on for suspect
SEATTLE (CNN) -- Authorities are searching for a boy who allegedly fired a gun Monday morning inside a school cafeteria in the south Seattle suburb of Renton, Washington, police said. No one was injured during the incident at A.W. Dimmitt Middle School. Police were trying to account for all the students, who scattered after the shooting. There was a summer school session in progress at the school. Shooter described as 13-year-oldKing County sheriff's spokesman John Urquhart said police were searching for the suspect, who fled the cafeteria after the shooting. He was described as a white, 13-year-old boy who was dressed in black and had dirty blonde hair streaked with blue or purple.
"The student walks into the cafeteria, stands up on a table, pulls out a gun, shoots off one round into the ceiling, orders all the students to get up on the stage," Urquhart said. "At this point, students in the cafeteria -- and there was quite a few of them -- went in pretty much all different directions," Urquhart said. Witness Marcus Trice, a student in the cafeteria, said the boy simply climbed the table and "started yelling and started shooting." Police in riot gear dispatchedPolice in camouflage riot gear were seen entering the one-story building after the shooting, guns in hand.
