| Bus collision injures 130 on way to college football gameOLIVE BRANCH, Miss. (CNN) -- Two buses carrying college football fans to a game collided early Saturday just south of Memphis, Tennessee, injuring 130 people. Police said there were no fatalities, and none of the injuries were life-threatening. The accident occurred at around 9 a.m. local time (10 a.m. EDT) as police were trying to divert traffic off U.S. 78 because of an earlier incident involving an overturned rig, said Sgt. Bill Sanders of the Olive Branch Police Department. Three buses carried students, band members, cheerleaders and fans from Clarke Atlanta University in Georgia to Lane College in Memphis. Sanders said one of the buses rear-ended a van in an area where traffic suddenly slowed, and the bus then hit another bus in the caravan. Sanders said he expected most victims to be treated and released from the hospital Saturday. RELATED SITES: See related sites about US | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
