Maureen Reagan has surgery to repair blood vessel

CHICAGO, Illinois (CNN) -- Maureen Reagan, the daughter of former President Ronald Reagan, has had surgery to repair an injury to a blood vessel in her right leg.

Reagan is a member of the national board of the Alzheimer's Association, which said Reagan's doctors reported she was "doing well and is expected to be released in the next 24 to 48 hours." Former President Reagan has Alzheimer's disease.

Maureen Reagan was in Chicago as part of a two-month tour to promote a fund-raising event for the association and its local chapters.

She checked into the hospital Thursday afternoon.

In her role as political analyst, Reagan has been a talk show host on radio and television.
