| Eunice Kennedy Shriver expected to recover fullyBALTIMORE, Maryland (Reuters) -- Eunice Kennedy Shriver, a sister of the late President John F. Kennedy, is expected to recover fully from a post-operative infection which has hospitalized her since October, her son said Monday. Shriver, 79, had been discharged from Johns Hopkins University Hospital following surgery on Oct. 12 to remove a benign pancreatic tumor. Two days later she was re-admitted for an operation for the infection and placed on the critical list. "Eunice Kennedy Shriver, founder of the Special Olympics and a lifelong advocate for the rights and abilities of people with mental retardation, has been stable for the past week. She is now in the recovery and rehabilitation stage and is expected to make a full recovery," said a statement issued by her son, Maryland state legislator Mark Shriver. Copyright 2000 Reuters.
