| Police have no suspects in L.A. counterfeit scooter caseLOS ANGELES, California (Reuters) -- Two days after confiscating more than 27,000 counterfeit Razor scooters at a warehouse in the Los Angeles suburb of Compton, authorities said Friday they had no suspects in the case. Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies armed with search warrants seized the knock-offs Wednesday night after being tipped off by Razor USA, the Cerritos, California-based distributor of the ultra-popular scooters. A sheriff's spokesman said investigators, who found no suspects at the warehouse at the time of the raid, had not yet established where they were made or sold. Earlier this month Razor sued 16 rival manufacturers, claiming that they infringed on Razor's patented brake design for the folding aluminum kick scooters. A Razor spokesman said the company, which holds an estimated 50 to 60 percent of the scooter market in the United States, expects to sell 5 million scooters this year. Copyright 2000 Reuters.
