1 dead, several hurt in north Texas tornado
WHITNEY, Texas (CNN) -- A powerful tornado ripped through a neighborhood in north Texas on Friday night, leaving at least one person dead and several others injured.
The tornado touched down in Bosque County, south of Fort Worth. A police dispatcher told CNN they knew of one death, and several others taken to the hospital. A Bosque County Sheriff's dispatcher said at least 25 homes were damaged, and some completely destroyed. Roads were blocked by debris in some places.
Emergency crews were on the scene assessing the damage, and trying to determine if anyone else was hurt. There was no word on the conditions of the people taken to the hospital.
