| Heads of state arrive in Kinshasa for Congo summitKINSHASA, Congo (Reuters) -- The heads of state of Angola, the Republic of Congo and Gabon as well as the prime minister of the Central African Republic arrived in Kinshasa on Friday for a mini-summit on the ongoing war in Democratic Republic of Congo. A government official told Reuters the foreign ministers of Cameroon and Chad were also expected to attend the summit, due to start later in the day. Rebel groups took up arms against President Laurent Kabila in August 1998 with the backing of troops from Rwanda, Uganda and Burundi. Troops from Angola, Namibia and Zimbabwe fight on Kabila's side. A peace deal was signed by all the warring parties in July and August 1999 in the Zambian capital Lusaka, but fighting has continued unabated with both sides repeatedly breaching a ceasefire agreement.
