| 60 killed in Nigerian bus accidentLAGOS, Nigeria -- A bus plunged into a river from a bridge in southern Nigeria, killing 60 passengers. A bus skidded off a highway on Thursday and fell into the Ovian River, about 20 km (12 miles) from Benin City in southern Edo State. Five passengers survived. The crash followed a similar accident in Lagos when a commuter minibus carrying mostly traders plunged into the sea on Thursday. Witnesses said at least 11 people died in the accident, but police said no one was inside the bus when they pulled it out of the water. Hundreds of people have been killed in recent accidents on Nigeria's badly maintained roads. Reuters contributed to this report.
