| Mexican pop star likely to stay in Brazilian jailBRASILIA (Reuters) -- Mexican pop star Gloria Trevi will likely remain jailed in Brazil until October, when judicial authorities are expected to finally rule on whether sexual abuse charges warrant the singer's extradition, court officials said on Friday. Dashing reports from Mexican media, which had predicted Trevi's extradition as early as next week, a spokesman from Brazil's Supreme Court said the judicial process would stretch well into October -- even though it has entered the final phase of proceedings. Trevi has been jailed in Brazil since mid-January, when she and her manager, Sergio Andrade, were arrested in Rio de Janeiro after fleeing Mexico on charges of corrupting minors, rape and kidnapping. Backup singer Maria Raquenel Portillo, known to fans as Maria Boquitas, was also arrested. A source at the high court said it would likely grant Trevi's extradition to Mexico, where authorities have labored to bring the controversial singer to trial for more than 18 months.
