PARIS (CNN) -- The complicated process of picking presidential candidates in the United States can confuse U.S. voters -- so imagine trying to explain the system to people living in other countries.

French newspapers are giving it their best shot, with some papers running frequent stories aimed at helping readers understand the U.S. electoral process.
